It is a work that belongs to the third decade of the painter's activity. The painting depicts a Magdalene with sorrowful eyes and impressive hair. Although both Magdalene's face and voluminous hairstyle are striking, what is most fascinating within the painting is actually the skull, represented with great naturalism. In fact, the skull represents the most surprising part of the painting. The way in which Antiveduto represented him is an example of his taste in portraying true, direct and unfiltered naturalism.
