About This Piece

Sleeping woman is an artwork realized by Antonio Feltrinelli in 1930s. Oil on canvas, 110 x 160 cm. Very good conditions Antonio Feltrinelli (Milan, 1887 - Gargnano, 1942) was an Italian entrepreneur, painter and patron. After studying law, he worked for the family woodworking business, which he successfully diversified. He left a significant part of his estate to the Italian Academy for the awarding of national and international prizes which were to bear his name. After the collapse of fascism, this task was transferred to the reconstituted Accademia dei Lincei, which with the proceeds of this bequest finances the Antonio Feltrinelli Prize, which since 1967 has been known as the Antonio Feltrinelli Fund. His first public appearance as an artist dates back to 1930, also at the Venice Biennale. Paintings by the artist are present in the collections of the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan and the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris.
