About This Piece

The Shakyamuni Buddha seated in Dhyanasana on a bare base, his right hand in Bhumisparsa Mudra, his left hand in Dhyana Mudra, his loops and the USHNISHA carefully sunk, the adjoining Ketumala. End 18th / early 19th century.
This image of the Buddha started with the rendering of the expression of compassion, the serenity of the face, the delicate drop of the fingers as well as the alignment of his back.
Provenance: succession of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
Sold with its certificate of authenticity.
