Temple finial (Faïteau) known, depending on interpretation, as "Garuda" (Sanskrit: Eagle), mount of the god Vishnu, or "Hong/Hamsa" depicting the mythical bird or swan, animal vehicle (vâhana) of the god Brahma. Original, faded patina, scattered with lichens and concretions. Thailand or Laos, late 18th century. Supplied with white or black steel base, adjustable chofa inclination. Provenance: Estate of collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau. Sold with certificate of provenance. H max 174 CM (H without base 166 CM) X P 24 CM X L 21 CM. Stand W 28.5 CM X D 34 CM.
