This high-quality crystal glass vase with cut facets was created by the leading Czech glass designer Pavel Hlava (1924-2003). Originally Hlava produced the first designs of this type of vase for the exhibition at the 11th Triennale in Milan in 1957 with the Novy Bor Exbor glassworks. from the 1960s, the series was produced handmade for sale in several sizes and colors by Engermann, located in Novy Bor in the region of North Bohemia in the former Czech Republic.

from 1948-1959 Pavel Hlava worked with the Center for design in the Glass and Ceramics Industry and was also active as a freelance artist. In 1967 he taught a the Royal College of Art in London. from 1959-1985 he was a designer at the Institute of Interior and Fashion design in Prague before becoming a freelance artist until his death in 2003.
