Sn5546 Stylish Regency mahogany house keep cupboard in Empire style, having oversailing figured mahogany top above a moulded drawer stamped by Edwards and Roberts and a pair of flamed mahogany panelled cabinet doors fitted with original reeded brass centre bead, working lock and a key and enclosing three removable sliders, all flanked by tapered pilasters with Roman capitols, all standing on moulded plinth. This antique chiffonier retains its original finish which has been revived and waxed, good patina and deep colour, all in home ready condition. c1820

Edwards & Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
