About This Piece

Bust of Marie-Antoinette in terracotta after Félix Lecomte (1737-1817), French sculptor, notably winner of the Rome Prize in 1758, and Academician.
The artist is the last queen of France, Marie-Antoinette, her head slightly turned to the right. Her hairstyle with a mat and curls is completed by a composition of flowers, leaves and berries. The young woman is dressed in lace, hidden under a coat lined with ermine, embroidered with lilies, symbol of royalty, and tied with a cord. She carries, around her neck, a medallion representing her husband King Louis XVI.
This work is based on a square with square base.
We cannot remain of marble before the representation of this woman with a tragic fate, who wrote the history of France.
