*Franz Hecker (* November 15, 1870 in Bersenbrück; † November 21, 1944 in Osnabrück) was a German painter and graphic artist.
*(Tower / gate of the moated castle Alt-Barenaue near Bramsche), in expressive shades of gray. Intense atmosphere.
*Catalog of works no. Dr. U. Hamm D 54.

*Signed lower right, as well as title on the reverse of the sheet
*The sheet is torn at lower left, not in the motif and yellowed. See photos. Overall very nice condition!

*Many of his works were dedicated to landscape motifs and personalities from Bersenbrück and were inspired by Impressionism. In total, Franz Hecker created more than a thousand works in various techniques. He also painted the murals in the meeting rooms of the Bersenbrück town hall in 1913. Some of Hecker's earlier works were considered "degenerate" by the Nazis, and in 1937 five of his works were confiscated from the Mannheim Municipal Art Gallery and the Worms Municipal Picture Gallery and destroyed as part of the Nazi "Degenerate Art" campaign.
