About This Piece

A brilliantly executed and characterful mid-century still life composition executed in tempera on board and dated 1977, by the established Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden. In this excellent composition, an arrangement of fruit including pears and grapes sit in a bright teal bowl beside an lemon and a bottle, with a background that suggests a framed window or artwork. Inviting viewers to revel in the simple beauty of everyday objects, the artist masterfully captures the essence of realism through his meticulous brushwork and keen attention to detail. The use of rich tempera hues lends depth and warmth to the scene. Every brushstroke is executed with precision, capturing the intricacies of each object, contributing to the overall illusion of depth and form. This tempera on board is housed in a well-suited wood frame with an inner gilt window and a lovely inner green velvet border.
