About This Piece

The work of a well-known Polish museologist, member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and painter Jerzy Świecimski. The work signed in the lower right corner, made in the technique of oil paints on canvas. An abstract image composed of cubic blocks. Vivid colors in shades of red, orange, yellow and brown. A geometric composition composed of rectangular fields, visible texture. Świecimski uses color and light to build space in his work. The picture is framed in a simple frame in a golden shade.

Jerzy Świecimski (1927-2012) is a museologist and painter. He graduated in zoology at the Jagiellonian University and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, he was an employee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He obtained a postdoctoral degree in museology and in the 1990s he was awarded the title of professor of theoretical museology. He was involved, among other things, in the design and modernization of exhibitions. He created abstract works, he reduced the world to a sign in his canvases. Many of his paintings are almost monochromatic, based on black and gray, but there is always light in them, delicately introduced by color.
