This is a picture that tells a story, in a winter morning, with the crowd on the walk on the Canal Vena, among the Banks of the Chioggia fish market.

from the canal, the fishermen's boats are slowly approached, returned from night fishing, to supply the sellers of their merchandise.

The beauty of this picture, as well as in the pictorial technique, lies in the contrast of the colors with which the painter tells his story and at the same time contextualizes it:
- The upper part of the painting describes the moment of the year, the winter, with the gray houses, the sky desatured in the morning fog, from which the profile of the bell tower of the church of Santa Caterina emerges.
- The lower part is, however, the story, the teeming vitality of the people, the saturated and living colors, among which the red stands out but even more the palette of the blues.
