About This Piece

Madonna with Child and St. John 1600 with a good balanced and harmonious composition in the center of which is the Child wrapped in white drapery and painted with already adult facial features and gaze, turned to look at St. John who embraces him adoringly. The Virgin with her hair tied back wears a dress with soft purple and ultramarine drapery and a daring neckline, holding the Child on her knees in an unspecified environment with an open window onto a hilly landscape with architecture in the background. This 17th century religious painting has been cleaned and is in a good state of preservation, with old restorations. It is from the Lombard school and comes from a private collection, it is equipped with a beautiful gilded fine gold frame from the 1800s.
