The Mauthe Clock Company was founded in Germany by Friedrich Mauthe in 1844. She had a good streak lasting until 1976. In the 1920s, over 60% of clocks exported from Germany to England were Mauthe clocks... but the onslaught of cheap clocks from other parts of the world was undoubtedly difficult to compete with.
This little wind-up beauty, circa 1950, has surprising weight and excellent design; keeps perfect time. Aluminum shows slight signs of aging. The dial and bezel are not scratched, but there are slight discolorations in the lower part of the dial. Overall, a really impressive clock.
