Vintage Design

This is a great sculpture. Check the photo details. It is part of a group of probably four figurines representing the four seasons. This is spring. An auction house sold the altarpiece, probably representing the fall. The body position, with the partial twist of the trunk and the legs open to balance the body, are perfectly executed. The hat, scarf, boots and jar with seeds were made from hot gold leaf. An exquisite masterpiece. Certain of the attribution due to the extreme resemblance to other sculptures in this series. the pointed nose and the use of gold leaf on transparent glass. The morphology surrounding the rectangular base also has gold representing the earth. A collector's piece of great finesse.
