The artist created this work during 2020 lockdown when Pride parades all over the world were cancelled or only done virtually. It was a way for her to celebrate Love in all its varying facets from her studio. There are four embracing couples in various states of visibility in this painting, which speaks to the longstanding issue faced by LGBTQ people. Singleton starts a painting by working abstractly, painting in colour and marks. She builds up layers and develops a setting and figures and finally a narrative. The amount of time taken to complete a piece varies considerably depending on the artwork. Singleton uses iridescent and florescent pigments that shimmer and glow differently with changing light. There is a nice texture to the physical pieces that is difficult to see photographed. This piece looks fantastic floated in 40cm x 50 cm frame.
