About This Piece

Lying Woman is an original lithograph on paper artwork realized by Sergio Vacchi in 1973. Hand-signed and dated on the lower right. Artist's Proof. Good conditions except for some stains. The artwork represents a woman lying in a seaside landscape and a dog. Sergio Vacchi (Castenaso, 1925 – Siena, 2016). In 1951 he held his first solo exhibition in Milan at the Galleria del Milione. After a Post-Cubist period, between 1956 and 1962, he focused on Informalism. In the early 1960s, the artist moved to Rome, where he started a cycle of gouaches and paintings. He attended the Venice Biennale in 1964. In 1997 he moved to Siena, where he founded the foundation Fondazione Vacchi.
