Murano block vase, 8-sided, colors predominantly red with green, blue and yellow. This vase is made by Crystal / Glass master Flavio Poli.

Vintage design vase Murano square block vase red / blue, very cool, made by Kristal / Glas-master Flavio Poli (1900-1984). He was an Italian artist, known for his glass designs.
The history of Murano glass goes back to the 8th century. Around the 12th century, Venice had become very popular due to beautiful glass products.
In order to keep the trade in glass products unique and profitable, a law was introduced in 1271 which stipulated that no foreign glass could be imported for production and that foreign glass workers were not allowed to be used.
In the 13th century, however, all glass making installations were moved by law from Venice to Murano, because the fire from the furnaces posed a great risk to the wooden structures of Venice. These two laws made Murano glass still unique today;
Made by artists and artisans from a small Italian island group. The secrets of making glass are passed on from father to son and from master to student.
